Running for those who can't
WHEN AND WHERE?
May 8, 2016 at 11am UTC worldwide in 34 official locations worldwide or going it alone using the Selfie
Run app with its virtual Catcher Car
WHAT AGAIN!?
The Catcher Car, the moving finish line, chases runners and wheelchair participants until just the two
Global Champions are left running.
WHO?
Anyone of any ability who enjoys having fun. From beginners to elite athletes. No previous experience
required, no running ability needed – just register and run against the world.
THE CHARITY
Millions of people worldwide are paralysed due to a traumatic spinal cord injury. Each year, more than
250,000 people have car accidents, slips and falls, the main causes, that result in spinal cord injury. It
can happen to anyone at any time. Spinal cord injury means more than being unable to walk. It is one of
the most devastating injuries and has a number of health-related complications, like chronic pain or
bowel and bladder dysfunction.
Wings for Life is a not-for-profit foundation that funds life-changing research projects and clinical trials at
renowned universities and institutes worldwide. 100% of all entry fees and all donations raised through
fundraising campaigns go directly to cutting-edge spinal cord research projects around the globe. Red
Bull covers the costs for the Wings for Life World Run.
COMPETE THE WORLD
The Wings for Life World Run is a truly global running event. On May 8, 2016, in 34 official locations
worldwide or using the free Selfie Run app, runners and wheelchair users start at exactly the same time
– 11am UTC – no matter if it’s day or night, spring or autumn where they are.
RELEASE THE CATCHER CAR
There is no finish line, no set distance to cover, no set time to beat. Thirty minutes after the global start
signal, the Catcher Car starts chasing the participants. From 11.30am UTC, the race is on to stay ahead
of the Catcher Car for as long as possible. When the Catcher Car passes the runner, his or her race is
over. The last one running is the Global Champion. Simple as that!

Spartan Race, the world’s leading obstacle race company, announced today the launch of the Spartan U.S. Championship Series. The stand-alone series, which is the first of its kind in the history of the company, will challenge athletes to the ultimate Spartan test by showcasing all three of Spartan Race’s core race types: the Sprint, the Super, and the Beast. The Spartan U.S. Championship Series will determine the best all-around obstacle racer, crowning both individual race winners and an overall series champion based on cumulative points across the 5 U.S. series races.

The Spartan U.S. Championship Series kicks off Spartan Race’s championship race season. The 5-race series joins the Spartan European Championship in July, as two of the pinnacle events on the Road To Tahoe for the 2016 Reebok Spartan Race World Championship. RED BULL SOAPBOX RACE REVS UP FOR 2009

April 16, 2009

ATLANTA AND LOS ANGELES APPLICATION DEADLINES SET
SANTA MONICA ΠApril 16, 2009 ΠReady! Set! Go! Red Bull Soapbox Race, featuring some of
the wildest legal street racing around, is set to cruise into Atlanta and Los Angeles for two pit stops in
2009. The two cities, both defined by their traffic gridlock, will transform their usually clogged streets
into wide open raceways as 40-50 teams compete for soapbox supremacy at each stop. This non-
motorized racing event, which is free to the public, invites gear heads and adrenaline junkies alike to
break out their toolboxes and build outrageous human-powered vehicles designed to thrill the masses.
On August 29th Atlanta spectators will flock to 10th Street in Midtown near Piedmont Park to experience the first Red Bull Soapbox Race in the southeast. One month later, on September 26th, speed demons will race down Grand Avenue and brave a razor sharp turn onto 5th Street on the course in downtown Los Angeles.
Atlanta will become Red Bull Soapbox Race lucky number seven for the US, with the first stateside race in St. Louis in 2006. The global event dates back to 2000 when it first took place in Belgium, and has since visited almost 30 countries. Following the Atlanta debut, Red Bull Soapbox Race will take a victory lap in Los Angeles for the final US race of the season.

CALLING ALL ROAD WARRIORS
Ever wanted to speed past a crowd of thousands as they cheer you on to victory? Well, Red Bull
Soapbox Race is calling! Teams can enter their engineering marvels and crazy concepts with a formal
application found at http://www.redbullsoapboxrace.com. Atlanta entries are due by June 17th and those looking to race in Los Angeles have until July 17th to submit their plans. Teams will need more than just courage to claim victory on these city streets as they will be judged on
three criteria: speed, creativity and showmanship. So, make it fast– and fun! Previous events have
proven that the most outlandish crafts are typically the big winners, so put on your creativity caps and
let loose. Past entries include everything from a Philly Cheese Steak to a Giant Troll.

NO HEMI OR HORSE POWER PERMITTED
Each soapbox must be powered by gravity and imagination, which means no stored power or external
energy sources allowed. And size does matter! All vehicles must be less than six feet wide and 20 feet
in length, no more than seven feet high and cannot weigh more than 176 lbs (not including the driver).
Drivers must be at least 18 years old, but engineers and grease monkeys of all ages are welcome to be
part of the five person team.
